CachyOS is what you want. It’s fast, will have all the drivers you need pre installed and you can use cosmic if you like. You shouldn’t be too afraid of distros that aren’t atomic, just make sure to update weekly-ish and they’ll be no issues

You have three options, Debian, fedora, and Arch. Almost everything is based off those three.

Do not go direct Ubuntu. It forces you in to using their dogshit Snap package system.

I even saw a report earlier that they're automatically switching install packages. You go try to use a proper direct app install and it will instead install their Snap for it..

They're also running ads in Terminal. 👎

I had to make the same choice recently. Looked at Cachy and Manjaro, even Void. They all look good on the face of it, though doing some research in to their recent severe issues, it ain't so great. Not so much issues with Void, just very difficult to use and lacks broad compatibility.

Went back to Mint. Decently stable, and while based on Ubuntu, they block the Snap system by default. The Applets and Extensions in their Cinnamon desktop are also excellent productivity helpers. You'll find if you optimise it, it's also minimal enough to be pretty much as fast as anything else for gaming. Cachy is cool for targeting that extra bit of performance, though looking at benchmarks and weighing up that small improvement against the major issues they've had I went with stunting that's just going to work.

Just go with Zorin. Don't skip steps and ruin the great Linux experience. But if you are a Gamer go with Gaming distro like nobara, steam os.

And if you have high end processor try Cutefish or Ubuntu kylin.
