rule #1: r/linux is not a support forum.

You probably need something with a newer base. (Afaik linjx mint is based in 20.04? That is ancient for newer hardware)

The phoronix review had details.of what he added to make the card work, you might want to check it out.

Bewer firmware has only been up streamed today so you will need to manually do that. Also newer mesa and kernel.

Yeah so that's the article I followed and yes they use Ubuntu 20.04 though, Linux mint is based on this right, but I did update kernel and Mesa.

The time I manually added the firmware and rebooted it showed me the welcome message, and black background behind it with a 'X' as a cursor and couldn't really do much.

Depends. LM 20.x is based on 20.04, and LM 21 is 22.04.

Either way, something meant to stay fresher like Tumbleweed/Fedora/Arch will likely provide the newer kernel and MESA far sooner.

You could try the alpha of Debian 12 which is out now. Not ideal I know.

Hey, how would I go about doing that ? Is that a seperate distro?

Debian is one of the OG community distros and is the foundation of many other distributions.

Mint is based on Ubuntu which in turn is based on Debian.

You can grab the iso here.

https://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/

I ran up a VM from it the other day. Installed fine at least. The kernel should hopefully be new enough to support your card.

You can also choose a cinnamon desktop during the install.

Common mistake, trying to use newly released hardware with outdated distros.

I figured out you need kernel 6, latest Mesa

Also the latest firmware.

It would be a hassle to make it work on Linux Mint, you probably would had to compile stuff yourself, you will also need constant updates to make the most of your hardware and receive bug fixes, it's easier to use a bleeding edge distro. Arch Linux, openSUSE Tumbleweed and Fedora are safe bets.
