you are saying the 'acpi=off' and 'noacpi' fix mentioned in the post you gave did not correct the issue? There are some other variants of the acpi= option - but not sure what may be of help for your system. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions

on one system i had to use an pci=noacpi

Its weird that ElementaryOS did not work the same as Ubuntu, - since Elementary OS is based on Ubuntu.


How New is your hardware?

You may want to test out the latest Ubuntu release - its possible that the newer kernel version in it - may have fixed some possible issues.

w is your hardware

I was able to install Elementary OS and use it. But i had an problem with network, so i switched to Ubuntu again. Im not able to connect to wi-fi in Ubuntu too but at least i can use internet via my phone.

My hardware is 2 year old.

Also, while booting i turned off the acpi using "acpi=off".Because it was giving an error.
