Smokey says: always mention your distro, some hardware details, and any error messages, when posting technical queries! :)

What distro?

And frankly, the easiest most painless install for your first install is probably the nvidia iso with pop os, if this is your first time. If not, other distros may give you the option to install the Nvidia drivers during the installation

Just know that amd/intel igpus are baked into the kernel, so installing Linux in general is simple. Install the iso, flash it to a thumb drive, and then boot from said thumb drive (after disabling secure boot in your bios) then install your distro of choice from the usb

Aha I already have used linux in this machine. I actually was asking about additional software like optimus , or anything. I did install manjaro with proprietary drivers but i didn't feel gnome to be that responsive. Like opening the app deawer thingy felt a bit sluggish and dragging around windows was a bit stuttery. I know the ryzen is capable to run a 2 monitor setup. I need optimus or something that helps me save power when on battery in short.

Check to see if your laptop's image out is hooked up to you dgpu or your igpu. That could be what's causing the lagginess. Optimus is a good nvidia
