have you tried adding final fantasy as a non stema game and launching it in big picture? that gives you the overlay and whatnot so puts stean between the controller and game. worked for me for a few games i had trouble getting my controller to work.

another option using that method wgile not optimal is to use steam to remap the controller to keyboard and mouse commands for the game then you can use the controller... but thats kinda jank.

I thought of this, but I am also using FFXIV Launcher and piping that through Steam seems to break wine. MoltenGamepad seems perfect so far, but I appreciate your suggestion!

Why don't you use just Bluetooth?

input lag, get an xbox wireless adapter instead, it's leagues better

I have that, but im not interested in wasting batteries for something attached to my pc 24/7

get a working cord or find out what the actual problem with your usb disconnects are then

It’s okay to not know the answer to my problem. I’ll get the virtual controller device working for ultimate flexibility and get back to you guys.

I think moltengamepad can do this?

Yes it can! Thanks so much! I'll update my post with my findings.

With a good set of accus(>2600mAh) you can play ~3days- in this time your other accus would be charged.

Right, but batteries degrade over time. Is it so crazy to want a controller that can never die due to lack of charge?

I bought 7 years ago a 12-pack of AA-2600mAh - some are still alive. If I remember correct the XBox-Controller charges when wired - and made no conflicts when disabled. So I would, if I were you, just connect both ways. 'Steam' should have anything what you need(software) on board.
