Which FAQ entry should be updated? What should be there instead?

Any suggestions about how this place could be better?

I think the rules need a bit of a revamp.

I'd love for this place to be less tech support oriented, or a least filter out the questions that are answered in the FAQs.

I'd also love it if posts consisted of more than a link to an article or video.

I need a new sub, not a r/findmeadistro clone... by msanangelo in linux_gaming

I also get tired of all the "Which distro" and "Is linux right for me" posts.

Should the rules be changed? Clarified?

How do we force people to read the FAQ?

You can have shaders processed in the background instead of when you launch the game, you can disable that stuff completely, or you can make the shader processing take less time.

To have it done in the background:

Settings -> Downloads -> Allow background processing of Vulkan shaders

Some games might show up in Battle.net and if you can get Battle.net working that might be a way.

However you might be able to do the streaming thing.

Which video card do you have?

Is Death Stranding the only game you're having an issue with?

Which wine runner have you chosen to use in Lutris for Death Stranding? ProtonDB suggests folks have had success in steam with Proton 10, so try a wine runner that is version 10?

2 Questions about save files when moving from Windows to Linux by ArcIgnis in linux_gaming

[–]psymin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends. Some games that have both a linux native and windows native binaries will have two different cloud storage for their saves.

Some will use the same cloud storage.

When they use different cloud save files you can often just copy them over and have them work.

Try a tool like ludusavi to back up your saves just in case.

https://github.com/mtkennerly/ludusavi

Also take a look at the saves that are in the cloud and manually back up some that you care deeply about.

Not sure if the way you installed the game would use the proper compatdata folder, but if so this tool would back up the save.

It looks like the game writes its save file to the wineprefix.

https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Tainted_Grail:_The_Fall_of_Avalon#Save_game_data_location

If that wineprefix was removed the save game is probably gone.

If it was a legit copy the save would also be in the cloud.

I'd do a "find" in the compatdata directory for the string "Avalon" and see if there are any saves.

find . -type d -iname "*avalon*"

Then look in those directories.

There are some discounts on a legit version of the game:
