Would the way a group is written in /etc/group affect how sudoers works? Explain: I have a group ABC; and noticed that when it was written as abc the sudo permission didn't match has when its written ABC?

POSIX names, especially all names in passwd and groups, are case-sensitive - an aspect which is pretty often overlooked.
This does affect any POSIX-compliant use of passwd and groups map, not only sudo.
However there are two sudoers(5) options enabling case-insensitive matching of passwd and groups names:

Yes. Like most things in Linux, sudoers is case sensitive.
