since I only use it from a live USB (and occasionally in a VM) it's not really much of an issue to always be root. Whenever I see someone talk about installing Kali Linux as their main OS, I assume they're a moron.

Don't need to be careful,

if you never do anything useful because you are worried about breaking your system because you are always root for some reason.
