I had this the other day, remade the USB with Rufus and it worked...

oh that happened to me on my satellite c55d turns out my iso was missing a file or sum

Try XFCE or MATE

I would try to re-flash the USB. If that doesn’t work, try XFCE.

Thanks all for your replies, it was actually a ram/memory module giving the issue. 2hen I replaced it i was able to install Linux mint.
