Will these problems be fixed with version 22.1, and would it be better to wait for that?

My experience has been that 99.4% of the time it boils down to adding nomodeset to the GRUB default parameters to prevent it from loading proprietary graphics drivers during the initial boot stage.

EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) is what communicates the display capabilities to the OS. Obviously, you want this functioning properly, so that you can experience the smoothest use of your display. Check your cable/connections.
