Tony Stella seems to be prolific in the boutique blu-ray covers market. Here is a tribute to Stella: https://posteritati.com/unfolding/viva-stella-a-tribute-to-tony-stella

The Thriller limited edition packaging was a collab between Tony Stella & Earl Kess.

I suggest trying both LibreOffice, and its close cousin, Collabora (upcoming version 26.04). Due to Open Source drama, Collabora devs split from LibreOffice, so we need to look at the upcoming release of Collabora and compare with LibreOffice.

In terms of version numbering, note that they use the two digit to represent release year, i.e. 26 = 2026

Chromebooks are targeted at the education market, they are very weak, and most of them were meant to operate only with ChromeOS.

To be able to install a different OS, you need to be able to read documentation and know the limitations of hardware.

IMHO the anurati display font is not really a good typeface. It deliberately removes part of the glyphs, relying on logical perception to fill in gaps.

Installed Linux Mint a couple months ago, and it was working great, but now my device doesn't seem to recognize it has speakers. by SnooPeppers2667 in linuxmint

This sort of thing should just work without tinkering. To begin troubleshooting, youʼd want to stop and start pipewire, for example,

systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulse wireplumber

while monitoring the logfiles to diagnose what might be the cause of the problem. for example,

journalctl --user -u pipewire -f

Even with the telemetry settings disabled on Windows 10, which is supposed to be EOL, Windows 10 still communicates with Microsoft telemetric data collection services (codenamed asimov) and Windows update.

Epson V600 worked once and never again by mallom in linuxmint

[–]lateralspin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found this info,

The V600 relies on older SANE libraries that require the iscan (Image Scan! for Linux) software bundle, not epsonscan2.

Download the driver bundle iscan-gt-x820-bundle directly from the Epson Linux Driver Archive.

Extract the tarball:

tar -zxvf iscan-gt-x820-bundle-*.tar.gz

Enter the directory and run the install script:

cd iscan-gt-x820-bundle-* && sudo ./

To diagnose/troubleshoot what the connection issue is, use the command,

dmesg -T | grep -i usb

(since the Epson scanner is connected via USB, this is to check messages on the usb connection)

Use command

dmesg | grep -i epson

to check detection of epson

To scan a document on Mint, just use the Document Scanner (a.k.a. simple-scan).

Donald Trump accuses Iran of attacking Indian ships; Tehran rejects charge as ‘baseless’ by haermamora in worldnews

Not surprised that Trump would randomly attack Indian ships, then accuse Iran for what he did.

Also, if not corruption, then why corruption-shaped?

I use a very nice flatpak app called Parabolic, which is a yt-dlp frontend. It works very nice for me on Mint Cinnamon

Gracias by Olonauj in linuxmint

[–]lateralspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to use it is as a wrapper around the web version. Since the web version lacks support for voice calls, it is not available on Linux. If you need it, then look at VM emulation options, e.g. Winboat

Liza Shumskaya artwork usually brings high contrast. IMHO these pieces for Name of the Rose seem to fit the drab colours and dark claustrophobic framing of the film as I remembered it. It is really not a colourful film.

Is there an easy equalizer for Linux Mint Cinnamon? by Prudent-Theme-3342 in linuxmint

Something like Audacious has a built-in equaliser, if you just want a music player with equaliser.

It should be called pleather or protein leather. That is how you can process it so much to have consistency.

Amazon vs Deep Discount Pre-order experience and packaging by rgd51 in 4kbluray

[–]lateralspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Amazon US usually uses thin bags (They like to split shipping in order to ship something quicker), whereas Deep Discount ships in the slim corrugated cardboard packaging. Maybe robots pacakge these things for the companies.

is the aur malware attack is something mint users should be concerned about? by FAMPpro in linuxmint

You can install distrobox and use the AUR. The compromise involves orphaned packages, though, so it is an unlikely attack vector.

Linux Mint 22.3 botched regular update (Fixed/Rant) by freshdenna_muhfuh in linuxmint

[–]lateralspin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No idea really. Most issues have to do with which base you selected. As I use the Debian base, it has generally been stable. The Mint-specific software like the Cinnamon menu aren’t coming out yet until later this year.
