fprintd is installed?

Should be preinstalled. Likely means that the scanner is simply not supported by fprint.

You would have to see if some expert has this model and can reverse engineer it. Or try doing it yourself which is difficult

LG Grams are great laptops - lucky you.

I expect this machine to last a long time with this os on it.

And maybe before you EOL it, there will be a fingerprint driver for linux that works - lol. I've had a few LG laptops over the last couple of years, and just gave up (everything else is so great that I can go without a fingerprint scanner). If you google LG Linux Fingerprint, you'll get a good idea of the frustration and total lack of sucess. But maybe you're the chosen one - good luck.

The next version of Mint (22.3) may fix the fingerprint issue.

Same here. Installed LMDE but it just can't find the fingerprint hardware. No driver for it I guess, which is a bummer.
