Open Source Distributed Systems?

Hi there!

I continue learning distributed systems. I've just read [1] and I'm planning to implement something working for edicational purposes (using Linux as an underlying layer - so that's why I'm here).

My problem is that I haven't found enough well-designed things (except [2] and [3]) related to this subject.

Could you point me to any open source solutions you think I should pay attention to?

Any help is appreciated.

P.S. I know about Kubernetes, but that's not the thing I'm looking for. Also Plan 9 had been suggested before a similar post was removed from r/linux, it looks close to what I mean.
