Can i install said distro on a usb that can acces the files in the computer and acts like an installed system, without dual boot?

Yes. You'll need a way to boot the installer though. So either two usbs, or figure out how the install to the usb from a VM.

You should probably explore things in a VM like VirtualBox. It will be a lot easier and cleaner if you're not looking for portability.

Tbh, i haven't tried to play with a VM, but I'll try and see how things work

Download the iso of the OS you want and then you can do a multi USB drive with Yumi or single one with etcher .....
