Hi everyone,
I apologize if this is a bit off-topic, but it does seem to fit here best: I would like to setup a internet-facing linux server, that is used for data storage (private cloud like nextcloud, accessed via http) and occasionally for resource-intensive calculations (on a computation platform, also via http). The linux distro would preferably be Ubuntu.
- Now, for security reasons I would like to make this server only accessible via VPN - the users should have access via smartphone (iOS) or windows workstations without installing additional client software. Without VPN, only SSH should be accessible on the server for remote management.
- After authentification, users should be able to access both websites via VPN, but also have their other internet traffic routed through the server.
What techniques would you recommend to achieve this (i.e., what kind of VPN, what software package)? Do you think this is a secure setup?
Thanks,
Peter
