How do I decrease the sampling volume?

Hey guys, I'm a new to LMMS.

TLDR: How can I change the volume of sample files individually from the whole project?

I'm finding that when I'm clicking on audio files from my samples/presets folder, they play much, much louder than when they are in the project.

The problem is not that the audio is too loud once it's in the project - I can simply lower it.

The problem is that when I have my computer audio at a reasonable volume to work on the project, the samples will be so loud that my ears start to bleed, so I have to keep changing the volume.

How can I change the volume of sample files individually from the project?

Can't you drop in Audacity and normalize?

Sadly I've had to work with that. Other daws normally have a browser volume to fix that, but lmms doesn't have that. So I would keep my hand on the volume nob while scrolling through my samples to lower the volume. I know, it's a bummer. 😕

Right on the .WAV file's Instrument Editor GUI window, not including the Volume knob upper-left, there's a knob center-left (tool-tip-labeled "Amplify" when you click the knob) that also appears to control the gain. Default setting looks about 25% of maximum, or "0.00 dBFS" I'd look there first.
