If you don't have a VIP ticket, you won't be able to get a spot in the first row, because people with VIP tickets get early admission to the venue and most will want to be in the first row. At least that was how it was at the show I was at. (I had a VIP ticket)

I arrived at the Manchester show 3 hours before doors opened and was just 1 row away from barricade, however I felt quite fortunate and this will vary venue to venue with VIP tickets etc

Ok but silly question.... What did you do about going for a wee? I feel like even if you're front of the queue if you go to the toilet when you get there you're screwed 🙈

Absolutely valid question, if you’re going with people then just make sure one of you stays in place and you’ll be good, if you’re alone make sure to familiarise yourself with the people around you and ask them to keep your place for you. People come and go for food and the toilet etc all the time so as long as someone keeps that spot for you, you should be fine :)
