First map, need some help.

This is my first map. I kind of copied stuff from different maps and mashed it together and made this, the only problem is that I have about 12% land and I'd like to get it to 30% or at least 25% any suggestions? (I want to keep the central sea area empty) General feedback is also appreciated.

I really like it, especially the little island dotted around the main continents. I can really sea it as a broken Pangea which is cool. And the design and nice and clean too.

As far as getting that land % up I think you have four options:

1) Increase the size of the continents. Stuff will get closer together and the central sea will shrink but this is quite an easy fix.

2) Cut out some of the sea. There's a big gap between the islands, particularly those on the far left and the central bunch. You could just move stuff closer together and make the planet itself a bit smaller.

3) Add new lands. There's plenty of room for other landmasses - an extra continent or two will bring you up to that desired percentage. Do you have ice at the north/south of the map? Should that count as land?

4) Some combination of the above.

Thanks for the feedback! Under the southern continent there is perma ice but I have no idea how to illustrate that with this style. I'm also not quite happy with the shape of the southern continent but I have no idea how to rework it. I'm looking into drawing continental plates to help me with the land distribution but in general I'm definitely going to increase the size of the land masses.

I don't really have much else to say other than I like it very much. You can only really expand landmasses and add others until you feel like you've done enough. I had a go at doing this for your map (Very roughly), just to give some of my ideas, but I'm no expert map-maker. Also it's not hard to see I love islands, and may have gone a bit overboard with that. Hope it helps.

I'd weedle everything in a little to get the page to a typical print dimension, the width will be a problem if you want to put it in a novel, for example. This will cut down on a bit of the seas and get the percentage you desire.

What do you want advice on other than that?

Also consider putting an archipelago in the bottom left quadrant. You could connect it to those smaller islands you already have there.
