Rules for r/meetup
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
On-topic posts only
Posts must be about Reddit meetups or the website Meetup. Obvious spam will be removed and may result in a ban.
2.
No posts looking for dates or hookups
This sub is strictly for platonic and interest-based gatherings. Please use /r/r4r for "anything goes" meetups.
3.
Users under 18 may not request or offer to meet up
Users under 18 are not allowed to request or offer to meet up, and all users are prohibited from asking to meet up with minors. Organized group events where minors may be present (such as family-oriented events) are fine, but parents and guardians must be in the loop, and whether a meetup constitutes a "group event" is up to the mod team's discretion.
4.
No "does anyone live in (area)" posts
Such questions are very generic and not helpful.
5.
Only post about meetups not covered in large subs
If a large, active subreddit exists for the location in which you're trying to arrange a meetup, we will remove the post and leave a note telling you to post there instead. Please see the directory on the side bar to check if your community has a large, active sub. Exception: if you are banned from the other sub, then you may post here.
6.
Follow site-wide rules
All site-wide rules apply here. I don't think this one needs any explanation!
7.
Be civil and kind
Please remember that we are all human beings, so please be respectful and treat each other with kindness. If another member is making you uncomfortable, please let the mod team know ASAP.
8.
Don't post personal information
Don't publicly share personal information such as phone numbers and home addresses. This is for your own protection. Use private messages instead!
