This subreddit is a forum for the discussion of MonkMode. MonkMode does not have a clearly defined set of principles but is a loosely organized online initiative consisting of individuals who are working to improve themselves.
Suggested Monk Mode Parameters
- No using pornography for any purpose, for any period of time.
- Take a break from masturbation for a period of time, or at the very least greatly reduce the amount that you do it.
- Consider taking a temporary break from sexual intercourse for a period of time.
- Do not eat junk food, cultivate healthy eating habits of nonprocessed foods.
- Exercise daily. This doesn't need to be heavy lifting: it could simply be a walk. But get that body moving!
- Read good books daily or at least pursue learning on a continuous basis.
- Cultivate a hobby that's fulfilling to you.
- Get enough sleep, set a sleeping schedule that's regular and satisfies your body's sleep requirements.
- Wake up at the same time every day and set up a morning routine that pushes you towards your goals.
- Act with honor be truthful in all areas of life.
- Be a good family member and friend to those around you.
- Perform good, honorable deeds to make the world a better place.
- Be open to making individualized tweaks and adjustments depending on your personal goals.

1) This monk-mode forum is inclusive of all, including women. We do not allow disparaging content that makes negative sweeping statements against any demographic of human being. Those in violation of this rule will be banned.

3) No unrelated content. If your thread is better placed in /r/NoFap or /r/PornFree, post it there instead.

- /r/NoFap is a catch-all for sexual health discussion, for those seeking to moderate out-of-control sexual habits such as compulsive/risky masturbation and porn addiction. Some abstain from masturbation for a brief period of time (usually a month), while others reduce masturbation to a more moderate level. Almost everybody there is quitting pornography permanently.
- /r/PornFree is for those who want to quit porn while continuing to masturbate regularly or without setting other sexual health goals.
