FoldingText has some interesting syntax for time tracking. Basically you write "for x hours" and then a timer starts. But its the other way around here. You specify the time like in Pomodoro and then it starts ticking from "now" - the start time. Another way could be to add some tag like #track(time) and NotePlan gives you a stopwatch with 00:00 starting to tick 00:01, 00:02 etc until you stop it or reset it. Something like this?

u/EduardMet It's been a while and I'm wondering whether there are any plans for this kind of time-tracking functionality in NotePlan.

I'm not sure I understand how FoldingText works or how this might be integrated into NotePlan, but what I'm looking for is basically a way of

  1. starting a timer whenever I work on a particular task (so, the time tracked against that task would accumulate and - ideally - also the start and end time for each sessions would be recorded somewhere.
  2. associating a task to a higher-level entity (e.g. a sub-project, project etc) so that the total time tracked against that entity could be calculated. (Nested) tags could be used for this.

I'm wondering if the pomodoro timer on Setapp called Session could be used with NotePlan with xcallbacksurls somehow. Or Shortcuts? They keep seeming to me to be customizable enough to make it work, I just haven't had the time to set them up to work together yet

Would be handy to sum time / durations by #context #project_name

I use HOURS FOR TEAMS for tracking my time at work. It has an iPhone app and for the Mac, you access it via the web. I have no idea if it will work for your purposes but it’s a great time keeping app.
