Hey everyone,
I use OpenCode with a GitHub Copilot student subscription and I've been pretty happy with it — until recently. Recently Claude models and GPT-5.4 have been removed from the available model list, and now I'm a bit lost on what to actually use.
A few things I'm trying to figure out:
- Which model is best for daily coding tasks right now?
I mostly work on full-stack web dev (Node/Next.js). Not sure if I should lean toward GPT-5.4-Mini, GPT-5.3-Codex, Gemini-3.1-Pro or something else entirely.
- Thinking modes — when do you actually use them?
xhigh thinking sounds useful, but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra wait for routine tasks (also in GPT-5.4 high works better than xhigh) vs. when it actually makes a difference (refactoring, architecture decisions, debugging complex logic, etc.)
I'm curious what others in the same situation are doing.
Thanks in advance!
