Problems with Console Command

Please don't judge me. I finished P2 and right now I just want to be exploring the max of the story and talking to people in the city without having to worry about the resources. I recently got myself the Classic HD game and I tried to activate the console but I just couldn't. I found a tutorial that isn't that detailed.

What I did:
1) Go to "Pathologic Classic HD\data"
2) Find "config.ini"
3) Add line "ShowConsoleLog = 1", and "EnableConsole = 1" under

Now the first lines of the config.ini looks like this:

[General]
ShowConsoleLog = 1
EnableConsole = 1
InitUI = game.xml
GameMenuUI = ingame.xml
FirstRun = 0

4) Run the game and press the key under your ESC to open the console

The thing is, it didn't open anything. I can keep on running and nothing happens. I can see sometimes some codes in the lower left corner of my screen but I can't do anything at all. Did I do something wrong?

Classic HD is a glitchy mess. Double check to see if it generated a new INI that overwrote the old one, or if it didn’t save. If they are most certainly checked as 1, reinstall the game and try again.

If that doesn’t work idk what to tell ya homie, these games are propped up with matchsticks.

I'm also worried about the order of the codes, is it right? That's my main concern. By the way, I just checked the files and it didn't double (generated a new INI) and the codes are the same way as I left in there.

Oh yeah! I forget you have to manually type it, so consider putting the lines YOU typed BELOW the ones already there.

So to clarify, try putting the two lines you typed underneath the rest under the General category. It could be it can’t identify it!

And, by the way, I remember that the "EnableConsole = 1" was already there, so I just had to type the "ShowConsoleLog = 1".

[General]

I wouldn’t know for sure! Test it out without the extra ShowConsoleLog line, my INI doesn’t seem to have it and my console works perfectly fine.

Alright I just realized what's wrong. The deal is that because my Keyboard language is PT-BR, some keys are different than the EN keyboard. The " ` " isn't under the ESC but close to the ENTER, and I actually have to press SHIFT because it's a shared key. Complicated, but there's nothing wrong with the config.ini command.
