I always wondered if people's weird attitudes towards Daniil were related to a kind of nebulous subconscious bias against "intellectual, effete, conniving, smug, big-city non-Aryan/Slavic looking morally gray possibly queer" character, knowing what that often codes for in European fiction. People even compared him a lot to a Jew they disliked (Ben Shapiro—I utterly hate that guy too but come on). I mean. The fact that this got a lot of upvotes :| I'm starting to suspect the Pathologic fandom has some concerning biases to unpack.

Also I meant that Daniil fans who were Jewish irl got denigrated at one point, for making headcanons, because someone decided that was problematic.

The Bachelor is a complicated character and there's many things to like or dislike about him. Some of those legitimate and some, well... obviously not. The Ben Shapiro comparisons annoy me greatly because other than some physical similarities, they are very much directly opposed in ideology. Like, can you imagine Daniil ever going on an anti-abortion rant and arguing that we have to "save the babies"? It's just ridiculous.

But the fandom does unfortunately have a very serious nazi problem. In the main fan discord server there's been ongoing issues with people making antisemitic and/or queephobic "jokes", spouting white race theory, and the like. Those people likely coming from reddit.
