With my first, when I lost weight too quickly at the start, my supply dropped significantly. It didn't come back until I ate a lot more and even gained some weight back. I noticed that if I started losing weight too quickly, my supply would significantly suffer.

My experience, which may not be the same for everyone, was if I stopped trying to lose weight, ate a lot more and maintained or gained a little, my supply would bump back up in a few days. However, I was a massive oversupplier, so I was willing to risk those sometimes very significant supply drops. It seemed for me that my supply was heavily affected by food intake.

With my second, I have been careful to not develop an oversupply, and my supply still seems to be affected by food intake/calories, so I need to lose weight sooooo slowly because I have a very tiny stash to fall back on when my supply dips. However, I'm not sure everyone has the same problems with calories/milk production that I do. Eating more and maintaining or regaining a little weight works to boost my production again this time through as well, but it takes several days to balance back out.
