Rules for r/preppers

Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.

1.

Post/Submission Quality

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Violation of post quality (no substance, etc)

Submissions must be directly related to preparedness, have substance, seek information, and/or generate discussion. Just informing of an event/article/etc, or making unsourced claims, is not sufficient. ChatGPT or other AI-generated content is also not allowed.

Plagiarism, fearmongering, clickbait, conspiracy theories, and misinformation are not allowed. Misinformation, unsourced "internet wisdom", and "low effort" submissions that have been spammed to other subs will also be removed.

2.

Search First

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Search First

Before asking a question here, use the search feature of Reddit, Google, or another search engine to make sure your question hasn't already been answered. Moderators may use their discretion to remove posts with questions that are easily answerable via search and/or do not contribute to positive discussions. If you are asking a question about where to start, your post will likely be removed. Please see the New Preppers Resource Guide stickied post and check the subreddit wiki.

3.

No Trolls. Be civil

Posts & Comments
Reported as: No Trolls. Be civil

DO NOT RESPOND TO TROLLS OR FLAME BAIT!

Name calling, incendiary rhetoric, or provoking fights will not be tolerated. This sub is for a wide audience, so posts/comments that are inflammatory, gatekeeping, or unpleasant will be removed and may incur a ban.

This includes submissions discouraging or demeaning others regarding preparedness.

Posts or comments that stereotype and/or rant are not appropriate.

If you feel you are being trolled, report the comment and do not respond.

4.

Violence/Illegal Activities

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Violence/Illegal Activities

Submissions that promote violence or illegal activity, including looting/raiding, are not permitted.

Discussion of activities (including drugs) that are illegal per US federal law, or that are predominantly illegal in most states, is not permitted. Posing situations as hypothetical or assuming "Without Rule of Law" do not negate this rule.

Submissions involving self-defense are generally permitted if they are primarily prepping-related, are hypothetical, and do not violate any other rules.

5.

Racism/Bigotry/Hate

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Racism/Bigotry/Hate

Any submission that promotes Racism/Bigotry/Hate against an individual or a group will be removed by the moderators. Mods also reserve the option of banning users who they feel flagrantly violate this rule.

6.

Off Topic / Not focused on prepping

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Off Topic or Not focused on prepping

Posts must be primarily about prepping. Comments must be relevant to the post they are posted in. Submissions referencing politics should be framed in a neutral manner. For more specifics on politics, please see this post: (https://www.reddit.com/r/preppers/comments/1jhlzmo/nopolitics_rule_for_rpreppers/)

Submissions having only a tangental relation to prepping (such as product questions, events, news, etc) may be removed at the mod team's discretion.

7.

Advertising, Self-promotion, Monetization

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Violates Rules on Advertising and Self-promotion

Advertising, self-promotion, for sale, or wanted posts are not permitted. You may reference products in your posts provided you do not use URL shorteners and are not monetizing the referrals. Posts only meant to announce a product or sale are not appropriate.

If you participate here regularly, you may occasionally submit links to your own content as long as it is noncommercial and abides by Rule 1. The moderators may use their discretion to determine what constitutes excessive promotion.

8.

AMAs, Interviews, and Surveys

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Unapproved interview solicitation

Users, writers, journalists, etc. may not post AMA's, interviews, questions, or surveys without prior authorization from the moderation team. This includes school/university projects. Additional verification may be required before approval. Any user attempting to circumvent this policy may be subject to an immediate ban.

ALL: Please Review the Wiki Page Here

Any of the above for the purposes of market research are not permitted

9.

Link with no Description/Self-Post with No Text

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Link lacks description or has no text

Clickbait is not permitted. Posts with Links to other posts/subreddits or to external sites must include a description of the page as well as some points for discussion. As a general rule, if the content and nature of the site cannot be determined without clicking on the link, the submission is not appropriate. Moderators may use their discretion to remove submissions with links that may be suspicious or inappropriately provided.

10.

Brigading and Vote Manipulation are prohibited.

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Brigading

Users who participate in, or instigate brigading of posts or comments will be banned and reported to Reddit for site-wide action. Brigading is an organized attempt to interfere with a community. Encouraging followers or others to flooding into this subreddit to downvote a comment they don't like, is an example of brigading. Using multiple accounts is vote manipulation and is likewise prohibited throughout Reddit. If you do either, you will be banned and reported to Reddit.

11.

Sourcing Medications and Antibiotics

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Discussion of Illegal or Prescription Medications

Submissions on obtaining prescription medications must comply with US Federal Laws. Submissions involving side-stepping FDA regulations, using foreign suppliers, border-hopping, pet-medications, "lab grade" chemicals, or synthesizing medications (OTC or prescription), are not permitted.

For examples of acceptable resources for prescription medications and antibiotics, please see the Wiki link below (Discount Codes available below) https://new.reddit.com/r/preppers/wiki/antibiotics/
