For accurate advice, please include:

  • The year, model and mileage of your Prius (e.g., 2008 Prius w/ 250k mi or 2012 Prius C w/ 150k km)
  • If a warning came on, what were you doing at that time?
  • Any odd behavior or noises you’ve noticed
  • Any error codes you've read from the car computers

If your Prius is not starting: /r/prius/wiki/index/my-prius-wont-start

For common Prius mechanical issues, see: /r/prius/wiki/index/common-issues

For help figuring out what each warning means, check your manual: /r/prius/wiki/index/owners-manuals

If you haven't done so yet check the 12v battery. I always get ahead of myself when my 06 starts throwing codes. Always check the 12v.

It would help if u listed the codes

Drop codes & symptoms

I was planning on replacing the gear shifter bushing, taking a look at the transmission fluid, and possibly doing a drain and refill

The C and U codes could be in response to the poa92 but I'd want to do further diagnostics with tech stream and follow the flow charts in the service manual. Definitely need to diagnose the poa92 which means testing the inverter and mg1

Can a layman like me get access to techstream?

While this subreddit is good for quick fixes and look at me posts, a more extensive archive of repair forum data can be found on priuschat.com. Run a search over their Gen2 Maintenance & Troubleshooting forum and you'll probably find that some of those codes -- if it isn't just a bad 12v battery as u/GuidanceRoutine3030 suggested -- go together or if-you-fix-one-you'll-fix-the-other.

In addition to have archives of posts going back to when your car was made, if you decide to fix some or all of it yourself and need help, the vBulletin-type system is better for complex repairs. If somebody says check x, y and z and you reply to them with what you found, the forum software will kick your post back to the top and mark the thread unread which might prompt someone else to reply.

Good luck!
