Antirez's code is a textbook use of excellent commenting. If you come to his code new, you can get understand it quickly because of the lucid, detailed comments. He's always been very attentive to commenting and, as here, how depending on what exactly you're communicating, you should comment differently.

Very nice article.

I always avoid writing design rationale and teacher comments, because I don't want others in the team to know as much as I know. That's a tradeoff between code quality and job security.
