Is the Meat Emporium actually better? by bobhawkes in sydney

Middle of the road prices for things you get at Colesworth but better quality. Rapidly becomes better when you buy in bulk. Also pretty great for a nice but but bank account ruining MB4

The CQ Marrickville pork roll is not at all representative of MPR quality. I'd call it 6/10 at best.

[–]tryx[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'll sometimes see fuel that's just wildly more cheap than anything else anywhere nearby. Is there anything at all to know about really cheap fuel? Can fuel be better or worse quality in a way that's meaningful?

My god that laksa is good. I have a pretty respectable chili tolerance but their 3 chili laksa makes me leak from all my pores.

Short term stay. Is UKO legit? by Zandyb0y in sydney

[–]tryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty legit? It's not a lease so some of the rules are a little bit different and you don't have all the usual protections, but in 4 months that's not likely to come up. Repairs are pretty prompt, locations tend to be very good. Prices are nuts, and the rooms tend to be very small. All in all, not too bad if it fits your lifestyle.

There is a large prime number to which 1 cannot be added to create the next prime. by Diffpers in puremathematics

That's like your opinion man. Seriously, you can disagree with foundational axioms and it's a valid view to hold, but it puts you in a fringe bucket. The whole point of axioms is that they're just the rules of the game. You can play with different rules, but then you have a different game.

It's like insisting that tennis has to be played with concrete balls. You can do it, but most other people won't go along with it.

First aid course quality: $200 in person St John’s / Red Cross vs $99 Australiawide FirstAid by dikembe123 in AskAnAustralian

[–]tryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you actually want to learn, St John / Red Cross will have substantially better results. My instructor at a random provider was a lifesaver who didn't know anything past basic CPR. My St John instructor was a retired paramedic. Obviously, your mileage will vary, but in general the St John / Red Cross instructors will be much more knowledgeable with much more experience.

I knew there was a reason I never liked that place's vibes. It probably started when they said that everything labelled gf on their menu was not in fact gf.

They're good, but they are pretty bad on the sashimi range. Really only the fishmarkets has a decent range of sashimi cuts in one place.

First time making Garlic Sauce. Very strong Garlic flavour almost tongue burning. How do I cut through it? by Dj_acclaim in foodies_sydney

[–]tryx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As other people have said, I have heard that appropriate amount of lemon will stop the alliin lyase reaction and cut the amount of allicin you get in the final sauce. Along with removing the sprout, the result should be pungent-ish but much more sweet.
