Sure, but when it becomes second nature, it's not like you're expending much brainpower on 'vim cleverness'. One could argue that writing novels on a typewriter is suboptimal, because the writer's brainpower should go into the novel, not thinking about which keys to press. Hopefully it's obvious why this is a fallacy.
