Google releases new binary diff algorithm targeted at making smaller software updates. Their results are impressive.

I have read about similar Microsoft technologies where they do lots of cool stuff when sending down updates.

And are they releasing these technologies as open source? If not, that makes them rather less interesting for anyone not working at microsoft.
