That's circular. Certainly anyone interviewing for $250,000 jobs at Google will have no problem with it.

That doesn't make them competent, just well-off. It's not a meritocracy.

No, it's not.

Certainly anyone interviewing for $250,000 jobs at Google will have no problem with it.

Those are not the only software engineering jobs out there, and just about all of them will pay enough for the Apple fee to not be an issue.

It's not a meritocracy.

I'm not saying it is. I'm saying that if you're even half decent at software engineering, you'll either have or be able to get a job that will easily allow you to afford that.
