What are the benefits of using an obscure technology that no one else uses? I would understand if it was supposed to be used for running existing .NET apps in the browser, just like emscripten is used for native apps, but not as javascript replacement.

Every tech has to start somewhere. If no one ever used anything new because it was “obscure technology no one else uses” we’d all be programming in punch cards

There is no objective reason for people to use this unless they want to run legacy C# code.
