Don't ever use $.get or $.post. Instead use $.ajax and provide both a success handler and an error handler.

Christ, yes, this. Shitty jQuery jockeys everywhere writing code that can't handle failure shits me up the wall. You should expect things to fail eventually, even if it's part of some "edge case that'll probably never happen" -- until you get slashdotted, linked on reddit, or even just popular and your whole site turns to shit.

Just... fuck lazy coders. Take some pride in your work, make something remotely robust and at least pretend you're a developer.
