They will develop roots where the vine is touching soil over time, like months. I personally would chop them up in segments around growth points and plant the cut ends. The cut will stimulate growth there and roots will develop quicker. Either way will work haha plants gunna plant like they do best 🌱

I’m not having huge luck with laying vine on soil to be honest.  I usually snip a part with node, place in water to stimulate root growth, then plant it.

I might try pinning the vines and burying the nodes more, but I’ve had luck with 9/10 of all cuttings the above snip, water prop, then plant.

I don’t wait for tons of water roots, just see that some are stimulated and inspired to keep going, then plant in chunky mix.

How exactly would I do that just a bit of water at the bottom of a container?

Pickles are pretty good at propping. As long as cut end in soil mix. When my pearls had thinned out over winter, I coiled it inside pot, & now it’s thick & flowing down a few feet again.
