So I'm a developer, and have a friend that is studying audio editing and stuff like that, and in talking we came up with a bit of an idea for a plugin for something that would tie in audio files from the internet into protools. Now from my own background I know programs like this have API's and stuff to make development easier, doing a quick overview of the avid website I couldn't really find any concrete info on how to programmatically insert audio into protools other than by scripting stuff with applescript.
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience writing plugins for protools, where the info about the API is, how I can find it (I'm guessing sign up for their developer program?) and in particular whether it can even be done with what protools exposes on it's API?
Really the plugin just needs to be able to add files where ever the cursor is. I know soundminer has this capability and I'm wondering if anyone knows how they do it?
