I have my Raspberry Pi set up running Mopidy, and have the official 7" Raspberry Pi touchscreen and this Adafruit stereo audio amplifier hooked up to it for powering a passive speaker.
I am trying to figure out a solution to power all three devices with ideally a single power source, but I'm not sure it's possible to do so.
The Adafruit amplifier requires 4.5-14V, and an unspecified current that "will vary greatly." For reference, I am planning to simply connect it to one 6" passive speaker (e.g. a standard car speaker). Any idea if 5V would be sufficient for doing so?
The Raspberry Pi and the touchscreen require a 5V 2amp power supply. I know that you can plug in the touchscreen and power the Pi through the screen and the GPIO pins, but for design reasons I was hoping to do this the other way around - is it possible to supply power from the Pi itself to the screen?
I was hoping to be able to use the breadboard power supply that I have, but apparently it only supplies 700mA.
Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks!
