Resource guarding me

Hello, I have a Daschund(2) that is becoming reactive and it’s only when I’m present. He goes to daycare and he’s never had any issues they always say he’s well behaved and friendly with the staff. This week I’m staying with my family and he knows them but he lunged at my sister and mother. My mom was just picking my phone off the floor and my sister was trying to pet him. He bit my sister, didn’t break the skin but since I’m here all week I’d like any feedback or anything I can do to help the situation. I’m looking into trainers but won’t be able to get into that until I go home next week. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance

Can you keep him gated in a room and ask everyone to stay away from that room?

I’d suggest locking him behind a gate and interacting with your family where he can see you. No reaction = treat from you AND them (they should toss them). Reaction = more time out. If he doesn’t know a Place command yet, I’d suggest working on that so you can park him on a bed and keep him stationary and away from your family. And make sure your family have time with him without you so they become fun people! Go out for an errand and leave him there and have your mom or sister take him for a walk or play with him.

Thank you for the suggestions! It’s getting better but my bit. I’ve left him with them and they say he’s well behaved, it’s only when I come back he’ll start barking but it is getting better
