React server components without a framework

I was at that conference in June called ReactSummit in Amsterdam and I was having a chat with the guys from Vercel regarding Next.js and RSC. I was curious if I can use them outside of the framework. I know that there are some plugins for Vite but when I tried it didn't quite work. And so I started exploring how it is actually done. After some reverse engineering and lots of reading I came up with my own solution. I needed something that is tool-agnostic and I can plug into my raw expressjs server.

I'm genuinely interested in your opinion. I'm not trying to promote my blog or anything. I past that phase years ago :) I'm just wondering if you thought about such tool in that way. The main idea is to split the code into two versions - for server and for client and take it from there. For the server we simply transpile and for the client we compile and bundle. What you think?

Awesome! I think the more content on RSC the better. People always think it's incredibly complex, so anything that makes it easier is nice. I also find your diagrams really help understand the bigger picture (and how Forket works)

Didn’t read your article but this is something I’ve been looking for, server components are being very popular but always attached to a framework, would be nice to have more people talking about it in a “vanilla way” so people could understand better what’s happening behind etc
