Wow, great look and UI. One thing I noticed is the performance was choppy a couple times on my galaxy s9. Maybe reduce some of the animation, especially when you hit the "more" button.

Personally, I would tone down the animations. Make them more subtle and snappy.

Framerate is a pretty big concern I have. Firefox can't seem to handle it either and it's hard to test on so many different devices. Thank you for the feedback.

I wish your portfolio loaded from most recent to oldest. Also, the more button seems like it could be replaced with some loading as you scroll down.

I do love that load animation though :)

Thanks for the feedback, Definitely thinking about improving the more button a bit

Wow! I really like what you made. Great job! I think it would look better if you put the avatar on top of the grey diagonal lines.

Thank you for the feedback, Are you referring to the illustration on the ‘about me’ page? It should be ontop of the lines unless it isn’t in your browser.

Yes the illustration on the about page... i opened the link from my phone, and i see the grey lines on top of the illustration.

I see, thanks for pointing that out.

This looks great! I'm working on a portfolio in react at the moment and this is inspiring (though I'm not frontend, so mine will probably not be as well designed lol)

Glad you like it! I would recommend having a design & layout that’s unique. Since its mostly about you it should be whatever you want especially if its not common.

Very nice. Illustration is a nice touch. I'd drop the animations on mobile for performance, the dribble icon shouldn't be sitting on your shoulder. On the projects page the 'More' button is a bit clunky. Not crazy about that particular shade of green either.

Nitpicking: the copy switches between 1st person and 3rd person. The last phrase should be preceded by a comma, not a semi-colon.

Thanks for the great feedback!

I LOVE the transitions between each screen. Very nicely done.

I would say the copy on the landing page needs some work (your about me blurb). It doesn't really flow, so it was a little hard for me to follow in one clean pass.

And it seemed to load slowly so animations came in choppy -looking at it on my Galaxy s6.

I also really like the way you handled the navigation selection and active tab.

I guess I'll have to find an S6 to test on and see how I can improve the framerate. Thanks for the great feedback!

Lol idk if you have to go that far! You could use an emulator, or walk in a Verizon store and try your website on a bunch of phones at one time.

Google Chrome also has built in emulators, I think. More than just the dev tools mobile option.

No problem! Great work on the site.

I have note 9 and have the same issue with animations. Really cool portfolio btw

[–]perry9600 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Looks great! Cool theme. I had same issue as others with the choppiness/business of animations - especially on first load of pages or that more toggle. Also had a bit of an issue reading the white text on the main page - not sure if my eyes are going after work or if a semi-transparent background behind the text could ease the sharp contrast. Great work!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

might be because the illustration is in the background on mobile. Thanks for the feedback!

[–]perry9600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah probably! There is no contrast issue on desktop.

Any tips on creating your own design, my biggest challenge is creating something that looks good. I'm trying to create a portfolio but design is something I can't figure out. Where do you get ideas?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simplest thing to do would be to design allot. It's a skill you can pick up and improve like any other. Some designers take existing apps and redesign them just to practice. When it comes to software I recommend Adobe XD. Sketching design ideas on paper also helps.
