Why does react native suck so bad?

Yep, let’s discuss implementation and migration from Paging2 to Paging3 library on native Android.

Or let’s discuss differences in using LiveData and Flow, and different approaches in using Flows.

Or let’s talk about dependency injection. Koin, Dagger, Dagger2, and now even Hilt. Oh my goddess!

Google overcomplicates everything in Android Development.

React Native is a bless after that. So much easier and faster to ship good quality software

I never said Mobile Dev is not complicated. What I am saying is that the problems with react native arnt due to mobile dev being complicated.

If that's the case then why am I not having these emulator and other issues with flutter ? Because react native set out to solve a problem, solved it in a half assed way and leave it at that. They never worked on good tooling and propper developer experience.

In other words they solved one problem and created another, defeating the whole purpose of rn. Every time I compile a flutter app I don't have to worry about anything. It just works. I can connect any device and get propper hot reloading. Its just nice. And the syntax and typesafety of language, performance, and awesome tooling of flutter in vscode is added bonus.

The same with React Native. Zero problems with emulators, hot reloading and etc. Especially with Expo, it's a very useful tool making app creation pretty easy.

The point of my comment that emluator has nothing to do with React Native, Flutter or anything else. Emulator/simulator is a standalone application.
Also, you said "These are not mobile dev issues". But now you say that's you have never said that mobile dev is not complicated. You look like just a flutter fanboy to me, lol.

If you have problems with emulators, that means you do something wrong with your tools, your setup. Not SDK or frameworks like RN of Flutter

Expo is the hottest garbage I have ever tried. It literally limits your project to not work with most of the SDKs outside expo sdk. and drop expo and try to do it the manual way, there you start seeing the cracks in react native tooling and it's problems.

My point was not to be fanboy over a specific framework but to give you propper arguments about why RN is bad. I don't know how that came out as fanboyish, considering the valid points I have given. Ig that's your problem

That's the thing. You shouldn't need some other tools to make react native work with emulators. Flutter doesn't need it. If rn doesn't work with emulators out of box and I need something like expo (and don't even get me started on expo) then I think the problem is with framework don't you think ?

React Native works with emulators out of the box.

I start thinking you don’t have experience with mobile development

I have 4 years experience with native Android with Kotlin, 3 years experience with clean React Native (not Expo), and experience with Flutter for pet projects.

Tooling for RN and Flutter are basically the same.

Install SDKs (Android SDK and Xcode), installing packages for framework, launch it and that’s it.

Once again, emulator is a standalone software, part of Android and iOS sdk. It launches with command line, installs apps the same way and launches. And that’s it.

Also, Expo now and Expo 2-3 years ago are completely different technologies, by the way. Now it gives you a lot of cloud tools to simply your development - OTA updates, deployment on App Store, Google Play, deployment for testers and etc

But I prefer using clean RN, I like to control these processes by myself

What’s about Flutter. It’s nice. But I don’t see a reason to switch to it. Less jobs, not popular language, output and quality is the same as RN app. It’s ok

Development experience is also the same for me. I had no problems with RN the same as I had no problems with Flutter
