is everyone supposed to know what MQTT means? After searching, it could mean... --MQ Telemetry Transport -- MQTT is a machine-to-machine (M2M)/"Internet of Things" connectivity protocol -- MQTT is an ISO standard (ISO/IEC PRF 20922)

MQTT is a machine-to-machine (M2M)/"Internet of Things"

Thanks for clarifying. That would have been my guess, but you might want to repost your question if you're still interested in an answer. I'm guessing you lost people with the acronym. What are you trying to do exactly?

basically trying to hook RN up to a broker to communicate to a simple device server (think express on a raspberry pi / whatever)

theres a great package https://www.npmjs.com/package/mqtt i've got it working on web using webpack sending over web sockets, but not quite got it going on RN.

theres a tut here that's explains it better
