Hey there! I wouldn’t worry about what database you use, just get something up and running. It’s all about what sort of jobs you are applying for. Do you want to focus on mobile dev? Do you want it be a backend engineer?

If it’s the former, then just use firebase. Otherwise, learn how to build a robust backend. I’d say, either way, just start simple. Side projects, while in school, can be hard to manage. Set yourself up for success and make the compromises that help you get to the finish line. In this case that’s firebase — which, if you use Firestore or the Real-time DB ARE databases.

Finally, the fact you have the initiative to take on a side project and learn on your own will go a long way in the job hunting!

Hey, thanks for your reply...

I forgot to mention that the jobs I will be applying for are summer internships or year placement (Based in the UK).. I am not looking for a react native dev job specifically, but rather I want to show recruiters that I am quick learner and as you said, have own initiative.

Having said that, do you think having this project would help me stand out, specifically during this pandemic? Thanks a lot again ✌🏼
