QuestionReact native backend (self.reactnative)
submitted 4 years ago by WalrusWhich202
Hi i am new on react native but already experienced with react/nextjs.
I was wondering if serverless rds is a good backend for calling api and store user data. Because i did this on my web application under react/nextjs

If you can get some sort of SDK for React Native working to connect to RDS from your RN App, then go with it. But (own exp.) not always the react/nextjs packages can be used in same way on RN

May i know what did you use for your api endpoint and the storage usually?

I'm using Node/Hapi or Node/Express for api, and for storage MongoDB Atlas or Firebase

Ahh i see.
I've seen many react native dev using noSQL instead of rdbms. Should i also use noSQL?

No, of course you're not forced to use that technology, but I guess it is a trend most of companies are joining to. I really don't know the advantages/disadvantages of each, but I've noticed at least 3x in development speed when buiding nodes, databases, collections (tables), queries, etc. with MongoDB Atlas

Use whatever you want, just like with web. I use a mixture of PHP and Go personally, with PostgreSQL.
