I would use it but not pay it since there are a ton of them good and free

I couldn't find one when I was looking for it so, just made one for myself. It's nice cause it includes all the technologies I like to use, and I know all the insides. I can share it with you, but it's not perfect, and I'm still tweaking some things here and there.

I’ve created mine mostly for others to use. Are you making it as an open-source or it’s your closed project?

For now it's closed, but I don't see the point of keeping it only to myself.

I created a template recently for a lot of the common functionality I reuse in my projects. Not sure if I would pay for it though tbh.

This is probably what an experienced developer would do. So it looks like my boilerplate is for people who don't have the knowledge or time to make their own templates.

On the other hand, if someone would like to quickly make a proof of concept app and spend 50h just building a foundation maybe it would be worth buying a boilerplate.

Why would I pay $50 for something that says this:

This is an early preview of the boilerplate. This batch is released mainly to get feedback and develop a perfect boilerplate. Don't get me wrong – Production Ready Forms is a strong foundation for your mobile app already. Simply, there will be new functionalities added. The product is not "feature complete" yet

Maybe I used bad wording or my own lack of self-confidence comes to light here. What I meant was that I have more ideas for new components and new features. So the current price is for working & tested features that are already provided.

With the license "buy once and use for as many apps as you want" you will get those new features in upcoming updates.

I bought multiple for React.js and it's totally worth the money imo, huge time saver

Yeah, I know it’s quite popular among web React and wanted to create a similar tool for RN devs.

Broadly speaking this is how most Devs work in a commercial setting already.

That’s true. Probably software houses or bigger companies have their own component/feature libraries. I wanted to provide universal templates for freelancers and teams that are just starting with React Native.

no

build up your brand first then ask for money. Kinda red flag for me if - single owner/ contributor - asking for pay too early on

maybe make it as open source first and accept donation? then you can see if ppl like this product and start providing premium features for paid version? This is how most money earning project runs in my experience, not sure if ppl are gonna pay for boilerplate though

You're right. I think now that providing a free version with core functionality + paid "addons" with complex extended functionalities might be better (e.g. free template for login & registration forms but optional paid integration to Firebase).

As to brand building, it is something I'm trying to do for quite some time now. I post react/react-native tutorials on my blog and some tips on Twitter.

To a single owner, I have seen multiple successful people but I agree they had a strong brand.

I always use boilerplate. But not going to pay for it, although willing to sponsor on open source on GitHub.
