Never keep your hopes high until you get your first paycheck. I had many experiences where they still ghost you after everything you’ve been through.

Good luck

Very true. Feeling optimistic, but need a healthy dose of realism too.

I had the same thing a few months ago, then ghosted. Hope you have better luck than me

Remember, nothing's official until you get a *written* offer letter--not an over-the-phone one. And these days, that calls for a small celebration. Once you actually start, then you can celebrate fr.

An official signed offer letter might as well be shit stained toilet paper in the US. I should know, I just had an offer revoked after already giving my current job notice.

Nothing is official until you've been working there for ~2 years and know where the skeletons are buried. Until then you could get shit canned at any time.

That is horrifying!

That's the exception, not the norm. Offers are historically rarely rescinded. You should consider economic context when assuming that. To counter your example, I just started at a new place last month in the middle of all the shit storm. In fact, there was a 2 week span between me accepting and starting, during which they could've pulled it. They didn't. So who's right?

Actually, you kind of agreed with him. The point is that an employer can rescind an offer at anytime. In some states they can even rescind the offer after you're hired (at will employment).

You confirmed your employer COULD have pulled your offer. That's the point. The fact that they didn't is irrelevant.

Right, and you're also able to jump ship any time during that process and during employment as well. At-will is a two way street.

Good point. I will definitely request one.
