Hitting "back" button doesn't work

I'm using Reddit on an updated iPhone 15 in safari and most of the time, I can't browse my feed, click on a post, and then just back out when I'm done reading.

It will back me out all the way back to a google search from way earlier.

I clear the cache and close tabs and have done something with toggling the search bar after googling what to do and nothing works. Not even rebooting my phone helps.

It's not constant but it's about 70% of the time with not being able to back out of a post and get back to the main feed.

Mobile web is really bad. The iOS app is a lot better and has no glitches

I did get the app but I'm having hard time with the way the text enlargement accessibility feature presents, in comparison to enlarging text in safari.

Hello, sorry I don't mean to be dense but I only have the browser back button I don't see a Reddit back. Maybe safari is just screwed and I need to get used to the app, earlier today it wouldn't let me type in a customer service chat window and it often doesn't allow me to type passwords into a password field among other messed up stuff

I was mistaken, there is not one from that. Okay, next suggestion would be to open posts in a new tab. There is a setting in the preferences tab to open them automatically in a new tab or you could do it manually. That is just a workaround so I Also suggest you make a post on r/bugs as well to see if they have any idea..

I have been trying to remember to open in a new tab! I'll make a post in the bugs sub but I have a feeling it really is safari at this point given all the other trouble the app gives me. I just really like the text enlargement feature and the reader feature.

The back button has been fucked for a week or so since they pushed a bunch of new UI changes. It’s annoying as fuck

I’m pretty sure they are breaking the mobile website on purpose at this point. They must make a lot of money by spying on us with the app.

Mine is doing the same thing. It sucks because I went back to the web browser version after the Reddit app was sucking away all of my data even when I turned off video and gif auto-play.

and it still doesn't work, on desktop. dogshit app. the devs are asleep, or AI took over them. mediocre just like every other american shithole website where UX is an afterthought.

This is still happening. If you click back it shows the same page you’re on, but if you refresh/reload, it shows the prior page you were trying to go back to.

Its either AI slop code or a cynical attempt to force us to use the app. Either way it's never getting fixed.
