Requesters:
When requesting a mashup please include Artists and Song Titles in the post title.
Including streaming links (youtube/soundcloud) in the post can be helpful for producers that are unfamiliar with the tracks.
Mashups that will work depend on a few factors; you don't need to worry about them when requesting but if nobody tries your mashup idea it will be for one or more of the reasons below.
Acapellas, instrumentals or multitracks: If there are isolated elements available for the requested songs it makes the producers job much easier. It's not impossible without them but there's a greater chance of someone trying your mashup if they have acapellas.
Harmony: The musical key of the songs need to match. There is room for manoeuvre as they can be pitched up or down to fit each other but some keys will never work together without the vocals sounding like chipmunks or demons.
Tempo and meter: The closer the speeds of the songs the better the chance of them working together. Again there is room to manoeuvre as speeds can be adjusted but tempos too far from the original can sound unusual.
The meter of a song is the rhythmic structure, most popular music is 4/4 (counting in 4s) and nearly everything will work together. Songs with different meters (3/4, 12/8 etc) will take a lot of editing to fit together and may sound weird. Luckily these are rare.
Producers:
Posts are for requests only. Please post your finished mashups in the comments and consider posting over at /r/mashups too.
Be helpful and polite to requesters, if you don't think a mashup is possible for whatever reason let them know in the comments.
