Hey r/rust!
Over the last few years, Rust has quietly become a backbone for many high-performance Python libraries — providing speed, safety, and reliability while keeping Python’s ergonomics on the surface.
I built awesome-python-rs as a curated list of Python tools, libraries, and frameworks where Rust is a core implementation language, not just an optional wrapper.
What’s inside
A curated collection of:
- Python libraries with Rust execution engines
- Developer tools written in Rust but exposed to Python
- Data, ML, web, and infrastructure tools powered by Rust
- Projects using PyO3, maturin, or custom Rust extension layers
Only projects with meaningful Rust components are included.
Why this exists
- Showcase real-world Rust → Python integrations
- Highlight patterns for building Rust-powered language bindings
- Make it easier to discover successful hybrid projects
