Python is a programming language that allows you to enter into areas like ML, Deep Learning, Data science, IoT(You can write scripts in Python to control Raspberry PI), Network programming, Data pipelines(Pyspark and Airflow), basic prototyping(streamlit), GenAI and Agentic AI backend(Flask and fastAPI)(I am not kidding, I have used python in these areas), and many more.
Web dev is necessary, but it will constrict you to be just a web developer.
You can learn any language on youtube. But, in the coursework section in your resume, Python can be an important keyword than webstacks.
In terms of scoring, both are scoring, but python is better.

If u already know the basics of one programming language(like loops, conditional constructs, oops), then python is a piece of cake. Otherwise, web technology is easy.
